Three models of the new 6 Series coupe will be available, all of which feature new, more powerful and more efficient powerplants. Each engine is outfitted with BMW’s new TwinPower Turbo technology with twin-scroll turbochargers and comes paired to an 8-speed sport automatic transmission.

The top of the line trim level will be the 650i, powered by a 4.4-liter gasoline-powered twin turbocharged V8 that makes 407 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. This motor pushes the car from 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds on its way to a governed top speed of 155 mph. The 650i will also be the first 6 Series offered with BMW’s xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system.

Two turbocharged 6-cylinder models will also be available in the new coupe. First, in the 640i, is a 3.0-liter gasoline I-6 that is good for 320 horsepower, 332 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-62 mph time of 5.4 seconds. The 640d coupe is powered by a diesel-fed 3.0-liter I-6 that produces 313 horsepower and a whopping 465 lb-ft of torque. The most efficient of the 6 Series motors, the diesel unit moves the coupe from 0-62 mph in a solid 5.5 seconds. Both 6-cylinder engines are electronically limited to a top speed of 155 mph.

Inside, a semi-customizable cabin is available with options such as Nappa leather, comfort or sports seats with ventilation, and a new Bang & Olufsen surround sound system. BMW’s iDrive system manages vehicle functions with ConnectedDrive features such as a full-color head-up display, active cruise control, lane change and departure warnings, night vision, and parking assist with rear view camera.

Look for the new BMW 6 Series coupe to hit dealerships this fall.
